On the 9th of March 2022 Engage Process will launch its Winter update to the Engage Process Suite. This blog will cover some of the key features that we think will impact our customers the most. The full release notes can be found on the Engage Process website here.

General changes

Knowledge Center

As part of the Winter update, the Help section is being revamped to combine the previous sections of Manual, Tutorial, Videos, FAQ and Knowledge Base into a combined page called the Knowledge Center. This recourse will be indexed and searchable to help resole any question or query you have whilst using the software.

The new Knowledge Centre will have manuals, instructional videos, configurations, release notes and access to the examples library. The examples Library currently known as Knowledge Base. Currently includes example processes and will be expanded for this new release.

Central Tables

Additional functionality has been added to the Central Tables, which are configurable in the Admin Center. Central Tables can now be used to add data to more areas including, Input-Output fields and additional documents tables. New documents tables can be added to act like a regular table, such as a drop down of documents for a step type.

Modeler

The changes to the core module Modeler are mainly focuses on quality of life changes which although the changes are small the many small changes should make a noticeable difference on your use of the module.

Contents rights

Additional granularity has been added to the Authorisation of projects and folders. It is now possible to specify whether a user or group can change the contents of a project or folder. This is broken down by update, delete, authorise, share and submit for publication. This will allow you to set different levels of authorization for users who you want to have different levels of access in the project.

More information around how to change project and folder authorisation can be found in the Customer Recourses area found here.

Images in the Rich Text editor

The rich text editor has been improved to allow images to be inserted in the description, remarks and annotation. This can allow you to add diagrams or extra information into these boxes which can also be pulled through into the reports.

Context Menu

An additional setting has been added to the context menu allowing for process links to be expanded or contracted at once. This is now in addition to the sub process expanding and contracting in the context menu.

Project Settings

The project settings window has been improved with the new layout. And there is new default settings including the default time calculation now being processing time to break time instead of processing time and lead time.

There is a new project setting allowing for the table name to be displayed in front of the table entry. For example, this can be used in the roles table to give you a service area name followed by a generic role such as finance.team leader. This can allow for a more generalised roles table with service area sub folders with generic roles beneath them.

The step numbering option has been updated to be option one and option 2 instead of the child before parent style names. Therefore, you will have to swap between the two to see which one you prefer.

Swimlanes

Swimlanes in the modeller and viewer have been updated. There is now an additional swimlane for s a roles tables swimlane. Where a swimlane can be grouped by the roles in a sub table.

Additionally, the description field against the central roles table now can be pulled through to display underneath the role in a swimlane.

Additional layouts

Previously when switching between layouts such as value stream and swimlanes, moving steps around would create a preview of the layout which would need to be overwritten to be saved. Now when you overwrite these settings, the previous version is available in the project history.

Filters

A new icon has been added when a filter has been applied which can be clicked on to show a context menu allowing for changing or ending the filter.

Exporting

The export for BPMN has been improved, according to engage process this will improve how robot process automation can ingest the process.

Reports

There are two changes to the reporting functionality. Firstly, reports can now contain images which can be added to the description, remarks and annotations fields. Secondly, cross reference reports can now contain a list of the table items used.

Viewer

There are two changes specific to the viewer module. Android APK files can be requested from engage process. For large scale installation. And secondly, there’s improved compatibility with iOS 15.

Teamboard

Finally, there have been several quality of life updates to team board. It is now possible to select multiple archived items and replace or delete them in one go. Similar to the modeller, Text fields can now automatically grow based on their contents. Finally, you can now delete self added work item types at board configurations. This can be accessed by clicking on the gear icon next to the name of the board at the top of the application.

Summary

That’s everything for this update. In conclusion, although this update doesn’t add many big changes, the small changes that have been added should help improve your experience in the application.
